The New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday waived Emeka Okafor, who made a comeback with the team last season after being out of the NBA for the previous four seasons.
Okafor, 35, averaged 4.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1 block in 26 games with New Orleans last season.
A herniated disk in his neck had kept him out of the NBA since 2013 before he made his comeback last season.
He was the No. 2 overall pick by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2004 draft and has career averages of 12 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 616 games.
