Toss Afghanistan chose to bat v Pakistan
For the third time in as many games, Afghanistan elected to bat. Fresh off a morale-boosting thrashing of Bangladesh on Thursday, Afghanistan came into this match as group winners, looking to maintain their perfect start to the tournament. Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan said they had made one change to their side, with Najibullah Zadran coming in for Samiullah Senhwari.
Pakistan, looking to recover after a bruising defeat against India in the final group game, made a raft of changes in the wake of that game. They prioritised on spin, despite being dealt a huge blow with an unfit Shadab Khan ruled out. Mohammad Nawaz and Haris Sohail were brought in, as was Shaheen Afridi for his debut. Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf were left out.
