Arrest warrant out for Trucks driver Anderson

NEWTON, N.C. — Jordan Anderson, a popular competitor in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, has a warrant out for his arrest on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, according to the Rowan County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle is a race truck that was involved in a crash at Texas.

The department began an investigation Sept. 7 into the sale of a truck that was damaged in a race at Texas in June.

Anderson bought the truck from Robert Newling, who had made repairs on the truck, according to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office news release.

“Robert Newling then took it upon himself to sell the Race truck, that did not belong to him, and sold it to Jordan Anderson,” the news release stated. “During the course of this investigation, investigators were able to determine that Mr. Anderson had reason to believe the truck he purchased from Mr. Newling was stolen.”

According to the news release, investigators attempted to get the truck back from Anderson, but he refused to return the truck, obtained legal counsel and his attorney told the sheriff’s office that Anderson would turn himself in Sept. 20. As of Thursday morning, he had not turned himself in.

The 27-year-old Anderson, whose struggles while owning his own truck team has had fans rally around him in his efforts, has 74 career starts in the trucks and 13 in the Xfintiy Series. He finished ninth in the trucks season opener at Daytona in February for his career-best finish. Newling was charged and arrested for larceny of a motor vehicle. His next court date is Nov. 21. NASCAR did not have an immediate comment. Anderson did not immediately reply to a message seeking comment.
