Brooklyn Nets forward DeMarre Carroll will undergo surgery on his right ankle Tuesday and will be out indefinitely, coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters Tuesday.
Atkinson did not provide a timetable for Carroll’s return but told reporters that he did not consider the injury to be serious.
Atkinson also announced that guards Allen Crabbe (ankle) and Shabazz Napier (hamstring) will not play in Wednesday’s regular-season opener against the Detroit Pistons.
Carroll, 32, was Brooklyn’s third-leading scorer and second-leading rebounder last season, averaging 13.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. The 10-year veteran is entering his second season with the Nets.
