Who’s qualified for the Liga MX playoffs and who’s been eliminated?

The Liga MX Apertura 2018 regular season has ended. which means eight clubs have qualified for the playoffs, known as the Liguilla.

CLINCHED A SPOT IN THE FINAL EIGHT 

  • Cruz Azul, Club America, Pumas UNAM, Santos Laguna, Monterrey, Tigres, Toluca, Queretaro

TEAMS ELIMINATED

  • Morelia, Pachuca, Chivas, Puebla, Leon, Lobos BUAP, Tijuana, Necaxa, Atlas, Veracruz

QUARTERFINAL MATCHUPS 

CRUZ AZUL (1) vs. QUERETARO (8)

This will be the first time that these two teams face each other in the Liguilla. Cruz Azul are favorites in this matchup after finishing at the top of the table. 

First Leg: Thursday, November 29

First Leg: Sunday, December 2

CLUB AMERICA(2) vs. TOLUCA (7)

This playoff matchup has plenty of playoff history, with this being the seventh time the teams have faced each other in the Liguilla. Toluca have won five of those previous times, with the Mexico City giants taking the other. 

First Leg: Wednesday, November 28

Second Leg: Saturday, December 1

PUMAS UNAM (3) vs. TIGRES (6)

This is the third time these two teams have faced each other in the playoffs in the last three years. The first was for the Apertura 2015 championship, in which Tigres won dramatically on penalties. The following year, Tigres won in the quarterfinals on 7-2 aggregate. 

First Leg: Thursday, November 29

Second Leg: Sunday, December 2

4. SANTOS LAGUNA (4) vs. MONTERREY(5)

Another matchup that has had plenty of history in the Liguilla. Monterrey beat Santos to win the Apertura 2010 championship, while Santos lifted the Clausura 2012 trophy. 

First Leg: Wednesday, November 28

Second Leg: Saturday, December 1
