UFC star Conor McGregor has been banned from driving for six months after pleading guilty to speeding.

McGregor, 30, admitted to driving his Range Rover at 154kph (96mph) in a 100kph (60mph) zone in October 2017 in Co. Kildare, Ireland.

The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion was also fined €1,000 (£880).

McGregor apologised to Judge Desmond Zaidan on Wednesday as he answered the charge at Naas District Court, Naas, Co. Kildare.

The Irish fighter has been out of the public spotlight since he was defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov in their UFC 229 lightweight title bout in Las Vegas in October.

It is not the first time McGregor has been involved in a court case involving driving, with 12 traffic offences — dating back to his teenage years — already on his record.

Last November he was fined £300 after again being found guilty of speeding.
