England back-row Mark Wilson has signed a new long-term contract to stay with Gallagher Premiership side Newcastle Falcons.

The 29-year-old, who has made 221 appearances for the club and is a Falcons academy graduate, will remain at Kingston Park for another four years as he looks to build his international career.

Wilson played every minute of England’s November internationals and was voted Man of the Series for his performances against South Africa, New Zealand, Japan and Australia.

“This is the club that I love and I’ve been here for 14 years of my life, so it’s great to be able to extend that,” Wilson told the Newcastle Falcons website.

“My family is here, I class Newcastle as home and I enjoy being part of the whole club.

“We get really well looked after here as players, the off-field support is great and I enjoy the coaching every day. It means I can just focus purely on getting things right on the field, and that’s what I’m looking forward to doing over the next four years.”

A late developer in rugby, Wilson made his Newcastle debut in 2010 and has stayed with the club throughout his career despite relegation in 2012.

He made his debut for England during the 2017 tour of Argentina but enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2018 as he scored his first try against Japan and won the Man of the Match award against South Africa.
