Jordan beat holders Australia in the opening match of the Asian Cup.

Australia midfielder Tom Rogic is a doubt for the Socceroos’ second Asian Cup group game against Palestine on Friday due to a hand injury, assistant coach Rene Meulensteen has said.

Australian media reported that Rogic broke a bone in his hand during the defending champions’ shock 1-0 defeat by Jordan in their Group B opener on Sunday but the country’s football federation has yet to confirm the extent of the injury.

“We’ll have to get the full scale of what we’ve got to do with that one … when he’s got the ultimate results of whether he can keep playing or not,” Meulensteen said.

Australia are already missing several key players, including midfielders Daniel Arzani and Aaron Mooy, due to injury.
