The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired catcher Russell Martin in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, sources confirmed to ESPN’s Jeff Passan on Friday.
The Toronto Blue Jays, who will receive minor-league players from the Dodgers, will be eating a significant portion of Martin’s $20 million salary, league sources told ESPN.
Martin, a 13-year veteran, hit .194 with 10 home runs and 25 RBIs in 90 games last season. Overall, he has a .249 career batting average with 185 home runs and 751 RBIs.
Sportsnet was the first to report the trade.
