Barcelona sign Frenkie de Jong for ¬75m; he will stay at Ajax until summer

Barcelona have signed Frenkie de Jong from Ajax in a deal worth an initial €75 million euros, plus a further €11m in variables.

The midfielder will join the squad at the end of the season and has signed a five-year contract.

De Jong had been a target for a number of top clubs across Europe such as Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

However, Barca have won the race, and announced the deal with a video on Twitter.
