Tottenham to beat Arsenal? Barcelona to overcome Real? Who will win on derby weekend?

Football
After another dominant first-half performance against Barcelona, the FC crew attribute Real Madrid’s defeat to poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Another solid return for the column last time out after we correctly picked Barcelona to beat Real Madrid and also took down a 4/1 treble. There is another El Clasico this weekend and a couple of huge derby games in the Premier League.

Running total: -£28.60

The Banker

Tottenham should have no problem finishing in the top four this season despite Wednesday’s blip against Chelsea, and know a victory over bitter rivals Arsenal on Saturday will do much to damage the Gunners’ prospects of finishing in the Champions League places. While unconvincing away, Spurs have won their last four matches at Wembley and have not lost at home to Arsenal in the league since March 2014. There is a fragile look at times to this Arsenal side, especially at the back. In the summer, Unai Emery dropped nearly £70m on a new goalkeeper, centre-back and defensive midfielder — a whole new defensive spine. Despite this the Gunners have struggled to keep clean sheets. Spurs are even money and can claim north London bragging rights once more.

Selection: £6 on Tottenham to win at evens with bet365.

The First Goal Flutter

Sergio Aguero was rested due to a “muscular disturbance” the last time Manchester City played Bournemouth but should feature this weekend and the Argentine star could be worth an 11/4 punt to score first. The champions are odds on once again to retain the title and if they manage to do so Aguero — who has now hit 18 Premier League goals — will have played his part more than most.

Selection: £4 on Aguero to score first at 11/4 with bet365.

The Tasty Treble

Liverpool (4/7) should bag three points against Everton at Goodison to keep their title dream on course after hammering Watford. Elsewhere both teams to score at 7/10 looks the bet when West Ham host Newcastle. Since settling on a front three of Solomon Rondon, Ayoze Perez and Miguel Almiron the Magpies have looked far more potent up front and Saturday’s clash should produce goals. Add in Brighton — whose home form this season has again been rock solid — to beat Huddersfield to 4/5 for a Premier League treble paying almost 4/1.

Selection: £5 on the treble at 3.8/1 with bet365.

The Euro Wager

For the second time in four days Real Madrid host Barcelona and the visitors look a cracking bet to win this latest El Clasico. In the past decade Barcelona have won 6-2, 4-3, 3-2, 4-0 and 3-1 at the Bernabeu, and on Wednesday night punched out a 3-0 win the in the Copa del Rey. Barca are nine points ahead of Real after 25 games in La Liga and have been far more consistent this season. All things considered, they look must-bet material again here at 29/20.

Selection: £6 on Barcelona to win at 29/20 with bet365.

The Wildcard Tip

A quick glance at the Premier League table would suggest Fulham have no chance when they entertain Chelsea this weekend. The Cottagers have been terrible for the most part this season and are now odds on shots to be relegated. However they are not without hope against a Chelsea side who have struggled recently away from Stamford Bridge. It’s clear all is not well within this Chelsea squad, and while Maurizio Sarri took a stance by dropping the world’s most expensive goalkeeper in midweek, his job is still on the line and Fulham look live underdogs.

Selection: £2 on Fulham to win at 5/1 with bet365.
