Former Los Angeles Rams running back C.J. Anderson has reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

After a series of injuries to their running back corps, the Rams signed Anderson on Dec. 18 last season. He quickly proved himself as a valuable contributor beyond what the Rams initially expected from the sixth-year pro who had been cut by three teams in 2018.
With running back Todd Gurley sidelined because of a left knee injury, Anderson started the final two games of the regular season and rushed for a combined 299 yards and two touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. His performance earned him shared time with Gurley throughout the playoffs.
In a divisional-round win over the Dallas Cowboys, Anderson rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns. The Rams were then unable to get their run game, powered by Gurley and Anderson, moving in the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LIII.
An undrafted free agent from California, Anderson played four seasons for the Denver Broncos, where he was a one-time Pro Bowl selection and won a Super Bowl at the end of the 2015 season.
The Broncos released Anderson last April. He signed with the Carolina Panthers and played in nine games before he was released on Nov. 12. The Oakland Raiders signed Anderson in early December but released him after just one week.
Anderson, 28, has rushed for 3,454 yards and 22 touchdowns in six seasons.
