Will Bruin scored twice as the Seattle Sounders remained undefeated with a 3-2 victory against visiting Toronto FC on Saturday afternoon.

Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei made a diving stop of a shot by Alejandro Pozuelo in second-half stoppage time as the Sounders (5-0-1) won the rematch of the 2016 and 2017 MLS Cup finalists, sending Toronto (3-1-1) to its first defeat of the season.

Bruin, starting his second consecutive game for the injured Raul Ruidiaz, tied the score at 1 in the 24th minute and gave Seattle a 2-1 lead in the 66th.

The Sounders’ Cristian Roldan scored in the 68th minute to make it 3-1.

Toronto’s Jozy Altidore scored twice, giving him goals in all four matches in which he’s played this season.

Altidore opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Pozuelo, a midfielder who has two goals and four assists in three games, controlled the ball near the top left of the 18-yard box, lulling the Seattle defense with a series of moves. He then flicked a crossing pass to Altidore, who was just outside the top right of the 6-yard box. Altidore’s header snuck just inside the right post, past a diving Frei.

Seattle tied it in the 24th minute on a diving header by Bruin. Defender Brad Smith‘s cross for Bruin from about 30 yards out was slightly deflected by a Toronto defender. Bruin was unmarked to the top of the 6-yard box and he put his header into the lower right side of the net, leaving goalkeeper Quentin Westberg flat-footed.

Bruin broke the tie by taking another cross from Smith and sliding to reach the ball at the top of the 6-yard box, redirecting it into the net.

Roldan scored two minutes later, taking a pass from Kelvin Leerdam on the right side of the penalty area and roofing a 12-yard shot over Westberg.

Altidore and Pozuelo connected again in the 70th minute, with the forward taking a pass in the penalty area and chipping a shot from about 15 yards just inside the right post to make it 3-2. It was Altidore’s fifth goal of the season.
