Toss Mumbai Indians chose to bowl v Kolkata Knight Riders

Searching for Mumbai Indians’ ninth straight win over Kolkata Knight Riders, Rohit Sharma opted to field first at Eden Gardens for the first match between the two sides in IPL 2019. Left-arm quick Barinder Sran came into the Mumbai side in place of the left-arm spinner Anukul Roy.

For Knight Riders, there were three changes from their loss at the hands Rajasthan Royals. Looking to avoid their seventh successive defeat in IPL 2019, Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik announced that Robin Uthappa and Harry Gurney would return to the side in place of Prithvi Raj Yarra and Carlos Brathwaite. Also coming into the Knight Riders XI for the first time this season was Sandeep Warrier, the right-arm fast bowler, in place of Prasidh Krishna.

Knight Riders have lost all their IPL games against Mumbai since 2015, and have a win percentage of only 21.73 against the three-time champions.

A Mumbai win will ensure they qualify for the playoffs – and give them a temporary spot at the top of the points table – while Knight Riders will be all but out of contention for the top four.
