Rafael dos Anjos and Kevin Lee both made weight Friday morning for their welterweight headliner on the UFC Fight Night card in Rochester, which is scheduled for Saturday night and will air on ESPN+.
Dos Anjos came in at 170.4 pounds, and Lee hit the mark at 170.2.
Dos Anjos (28-11), the former UFC lightweight champion, is trying to snap a two-fight losing streak. The Brazilian, who trains in Southern California, is 3-2 since moving up to welterweight. Dos Anjos, 34, most recently lost to current welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at the TUF 28 Finale in December.
Lee (17-4) is making his UFC welterweight debut in this fight. The Detroit native, who lives and trains in Las Vegas, had multiple woes making weight at 155 pounds but has not ruled out a return there. Lee, 26, is coming off a loss to Al Iaquinta at UFC on Fox 31 in December. A former interim title challenger, he’s won six of his last eight.
It’s the first time he’s cut weight to 170 pounds instead of 155.
“(I felt) way better,” Lee said. “Got a full night sleep and woke up with one pound left. Normally I’ll cut 12 pounds this morning, and it’s a nightmare. This was light work.
“Ain’t nothing left to it but to do the damn thing. I’m excited.”
The other 24 fighters successfully made weight Friday morning, including co-headliners Ian Heinisch (185.6) and Antonio Carlos Junior (185.6).
