Lance Armstrong says he “wouldn’t change a thing” about his doping history that led to him being stripped of his seven Tour de France titles.
Armstrong made his declaration in an interview with Mike Tirico that will air after Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday.
“We did what we had to do to win,” Armstrong said. “It wasn’t legal, but I wouldn’t change a thing — whether it’s losing a bunch of money, going from hero to zero.”
The interview, “Lance Armstrong: Next Stage,” covers the doping culture within cycling when he competed, Armstrong’s separation from the Livestrong Foundation that supports people with cancer, and what’s next for him.
Armstrong was stripped of seven Tour de France titles by the International Cycling Union in 2012. After years of denials, Armstrong admitted to taking performance-enhancing drugs during a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
