Mackenzie Dern, a top UFC prospect, gave birth Sunday, she announced Monday on social media.

Dern and her boyfriend, professional surfer Wesley Santos, had a baby girl named Moa, she wrote. This is Dern’s first child.

“A little late, stubborn, american/brazilian, beautiful, perfect, God’s gift and our family’s biggest pride!” Dern wrote on Instagram. “Delivery was smooth and I had the most important people by my side!”

Dern, 26, has been out of action since a first-round submission win over Amanda Cooper at UFC 224 in May 2018. The former multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion and Phoenix native is 2-0 in the UFC and is a highly regarded prospect. There is no timetable for a Dern (7-0) return to the Octagon.

UFC bantamweight Sara McMann gave birth to a son in December. She will return against former flyweight champion Nicco Montaño on July 13 at UFC Sacramento.

“I want to fight this year, hopefully,” Dern said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show in March. “This is going to give me even more motivation now.”
