The striker is keen to leave Old Trafford this summer over fears he has slipped behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order. He trained in the gym on Thursday evening along with Martial ahead of the opening tour game against Perth Glory on Saturday.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Inter are keen to sign Lukaku in an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy while United would want around £80 million before allowing him to leave.

Lukaku was a target for Antonio Conte at Chelsea before eventually moving to United in 2017 and the ex-Everton man recently labelled the Italian the “best manager in the world.”

When he first joined United, Lukaku was the first-choice forward but lost his place to Rashford once Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as manager.

Midfielder Paul Pogba is another United player who could leave this summer, with his agent Mino Raiola having recently said an “exit is in the process.”

However, Solskjaer said United do not have to sell anybody.
