Saracens forward Dominic Day will become the latest player to make the switch from Europe to the United States when joins San Diego Legion next season.
The lock will play in Major League Rugby after a two-year spell with the English champions where he made a total of 32 appearances.
The 33-year-old enjoyed a successful period with Saracens winning two league titles and two European Champion Cup trophies.
“It’s been an amazing two years,” said Day in a statement. “I’ve met a lot of really good people and have been a part of a team which has won four trophies since I’ve been here.
“It’s been more than I could ever have asked for. Saracens are a massive club and pride themselves on being up there and winning things; being part of that has been amazing.”
Day will join former England international Steffon Armitage who also signed a contract with San Diego for next season.
“Dom has been a brilliant person to have at the club over the last two seasons. In particular he has played a key role in mentoring some of our younger players both on and off the field,” said Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall.
“We wish him and Nadia well as they embark on this exciting new challenge and will always be grateful to him for the huge contribution he has made at our club.”
The MLR will be host to a number of European star players next season with former France international Mathieu Bastareaud and former England fullback Ben Foden signing for Rugby United New York.
