WBC junior lightweight world titleholder Miguel Berchelt will face former junior featherweight titlist Jason Sosa in the main event of a Top Rank Boxing card Saturday night at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The fight will air live on ESPN at 10:30 p.m. ET, with undercard bouts on ESPN+ starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Berchelt (36-1, 32 KOs) won the belt by stopping Francisco Vargas in the 11th round in January 2017 in a terrific fight. At the time of the stoppage, Berchelt was ahead on two scorecards 96-94 while the third judge had the fight a draw 95-95.
Berchelt, from Cancun, Mexico, is in the middle of a tremendous winning streak. Berchelt has won 15 fights in a row since losing a first-round TKO against Luis Eduardo Florez in 2014. Fourteen of those victories have been by stoppage.
Sosa (23-3-4, 16 KOs) defeated Haskell Lydell Rhodes by seventh-round KO in August. It was Sosa’s third consecutive victory since losing back-to-back fight against Vasiliy Lomachenko and Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2017.
