WBO junior lightweight world titleholder Jamel Herring faces Lamont Roach Jr. in the main event of a Top Rank on ESPN+ card at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, California, on Saturday at 10 p.m. ET. The undercard will air at 6:30 p.m. ET, also on ESPN+.
Herring (20-2, 10 KOs), 34, won the title by defeating Masayuki Ito in a clear unanimous decision in May. This is the first defense of the belt for Herring.
Since suffering an upset loss to Ladarius Miller in August 2017, Herring has won four fights in a row, including his title victory over Ito and a unanimous decision win over Adeilson Dos Santos in December 2018.
Roach (19-0-1, 7 KOs), 24, started his career with 16 victories in a row until a split draw against Orlando Cruz in April 2018 in Cruz’s hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Since then, Roach has won three consecutive fights, including a unanimous decision victory over Jonathan Oquendo on the Canelo Alvarez-Daniel Jacobs undercard last May in Las Vegas.
ESPN boxing commentator Bernardo Osuna, along with former world champions Timothy Bradley Jr. and Andre Ward, will call the fight from ringside, with boxing analyst Mark Kriegel providing inside information from fighters and trainers and reporter Crystina Poncher conducting interviews.
