During the lead-up to UFC 248, Joanna Jedrzejczyk said that her fight with strawweight champion Zhang Weili was going to be the greatest title fight in the division’s history.
Boy, was she right. In fact, their performance on Saturday night in Las Vegas may be considered the greatest fight ever in women’s MMA.
Zhang retained the title by split decision in a five-round slugfest. Just how brutal was the battle? The faces of both women were badly bruised, and Jedrzejczyk, the former champ, wore significant swelling on her forehead for much of the contest.
The fight had many throughout sports and the MMA world taking to Twitter to sing the praises of both fighters.
Before ➡ after.
