Detroit Pistons leading scorer Jerami Grant will be sidelined for at least six weeks because of a UCL sprain of his right thumb, the team announced Sunday.
The team said the forward’s injury happened during the second quarter of Friday’s 109-93 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Pistons’ 11th straight defeat.
The nature of his injury was confirmed by tests performed Saturday and he will be reevaluated by the team’s medical staff in six weeks.
Grant is averaging 20.1 points per game to lead the Pistons. He is shooting 41.4% on 3-point attempts.
The Pistons have the NBA’s worst record at 4-21 entering Sunday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.
