A featherweight matchup between Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett will headline a UFC Fight Night on June 18, multiple sources confirmed to ESPN.
The UFC Fight Night is slated to take place in Austin, Texas. All Access MMA first reported the 145-pound pairing.
Kattar (23-5) is coming off an impressive upset over Giga Chikadze in January. A Massachusetts native, Kattar fought only once in 2021, absorbing a lot of damage in a five-round loss to Max Holloway. After taking an entire year off, however, Kattar looked better than ever against Chikadze, who had won seven in a row in the UFC going in.
Emmett (17-2) is riding a four-fight winning streak. He also fought only once in 2021, recording a three-round win over Dan Ige in December. This will mark his first appearance of 2022. He fights out of Team Alpha Male in Sacramento.
Kattar and Emmett are ranked Nos. 4 and 7 in the UFC’s official rankings, respectively.
Current champion Alexander Volkanovski is fresh off a title defense against Chan Sung Jung at UFC 273 earlier this month. He does not have his next title bout scheduled.
