ST. LOUIS — Milwaukee Brewers opener Matt Bush exited after recording just one out because of right groin discomfort Tuesday night during an 8-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Bush is day-to-day.
Bush, who was starting a bullpen game for the Brewers with three starters already on the injured list, made just 15 pitches before leaving. He walked Brendan Donovan, allowed a single to Tommy Edman and got Paul Goldschmidt to ground out. He left after making the first pitch to Nolan Arenado. Peter Strzelecki came on in relief to finish the inning.
Luis Perdomo (2-0) got the win after allowing one run in three innings. Perdomo, Brad Boxberger, Hoby Milner, Justin Topa, Taylor Rogers and Brent Suter combined to retire 20 of 22 batters from the third inning on.
The Brewers moved within seven games of the NL Central-leading Cardinals.
