If you thought the Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones feud has simmered down, think again.

Just days after the United States Anti-Doping Agency’s ruling that Jones was eligible to return to competition on Oct. 28 — 15 months after failing a second drug test — the former UFC light heavyweight champion lit into his rival with a lengthy Instagram post threatening to “bury” Cormier in a third meeting.

Cormier responded Friday morning, calling Jones a “cheater and a snitch.”

The fighters have a tumultuous history together.

Jones defeated Cormier two previous times, the first by unanimous decision at UFC 182 in 2015. He was later stripped of his belt after being arrested for a hit-and-run accident that injured a pregnant woman. Cormier replaced him and defeated Anthony Johnson for the interim belt.

Jones and Cormier were scheduled to fight at UFC 200 in July 2016, but Jones failed a pre-fight drug test and was pulled from the card.

The two finally had a rematch at UFC 214 in July of 2017. Jones landed a head kick in the third round and won by TKO, although the result was later ruled a no-contest after the victor tested positive for Turinabol, an anabolic steroid.

Cormier was reinstated as light heavyweight champion and subsequently went on to defeat Volkan Oezdemir by second-round TKO in January. He later fought for the heavyweight belt against then-champion Stipe Miocic in July and won by first-round KO to become one of two fighters to ever hold two UFC championships simultaneously.
