South Korea soccer international Lee Chang-min has been questioned by police after he was involved in a car crash that left one person dead and two injured.

Lee, who has played seven times for the national team and is a midfielder with leading K-League club Jeju United, has admitted that his SUV crossed the center line while driving on Jeju Island on Monday and collided with another vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction.

“We have to collect more evidence and need to conduct more of the investigation on Lee,” an official at Seogwipo Police Station in Jeju said on Friday. “It will take some time, so it’s not likely that this case will be transferred to the prosecutors this month.”

According to police, there was no alcohol involved but Lee was unable to say whether he had been driving over the 30 kilometers per hour (18 mph) speed limit on the winding island road.

Lee last appeared for South Korea in March, taking the field against Northern Ireland and Poland as the national team prepared for the World Cup. He also represented his country at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
