The Cincinnati Reds and right-handed reliever Raisel Iglesias have agreed to a new three-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Iglesias had 30 saves last season after posting 28 the season before.
The deal signs Iglesias through his arbitration-eligible years and runs through the 2021 season. The total value of the deal is $24.1 million, according to multiple reports. MLB.com first reported the contract’s value.
“Raisel has been extremely reliable in our bullpen. He has also proven to be a very versatile pitcher, which we value highly,” Reds president of baseball operations Dick Williams said in a statement. “This contract provides both sides with cost certainty and will allow [pitching coach] Derek [Johnson] and [manager] David [Bell] to focus on how Raisel can be utilized to provide the most value to the team.”
Iglesias made 66 appearances for the Reds in 2018, posting a 2.38 ERA in 72 innings with 80 strikeouts and 25 walks.
He signed a seven-year contract with the Reds in 2014 that allowed him to opt into arbitration after the 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons.
