England have added centre Jonathan Joseph to their Six Nations training squad, the Rugby Football Union announced on Tuesday.

Joseph has not played for England since the final match of the Six Nations last year, which saw Ireland win the Grand Slam at Twickenham.

The Bath back, who has been capped 40 times by England, was ruled out of the November Internationals after undergoing ankle surgery in April. He returned to action for Bath against Toulouse on Sunday, proving his fitness to England selectors.

Meanwhile, captain Owen Farrell has been included in the 36-man squad, despite concerns over his fitness.

Farrell was withdrawn from Saracens’ home European Champions Cup match against Glasgow last week to have a minor procedure on his thumb, but is expected to return to full training in the coming days.

England begin their Six Nations campaign against reigning champions Ireland in Dublin on Saturday Feb. 2.

The squad, which includes four uncapped players, will travel to Portugal on Wednesday for a warm weather training camp before head coach Eddie Jones names his 25-man group for the trip to Dublin.
