Wizards’ Wall ruptures Achilles in fall at home

Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall, who already is out for the remainder of this season because of an injured heel, needs Achilles surgery that will sideline him for approximately one year.

The Wizards announced Tuesday that Wall suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon after slipping and falling in his home. He will have surgery.

The team has not determined a date for the surgery, which will be performed by Dr. Robert Anderson, but announced that Wall is expected to miss approximately 12 months from the time of the operation.

Wall was ruled out for the rest of this season in late December because of bone spurs in his left heel. The team said he developed an infection in the incision from the initial heel surgery on Jan. 8.
