The UFC is targeting a flyweight title fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Jessica Eye for UFC 238 this summer, sources told ESPN.
The UFC 238 pay-per-view is scheduled to take place June 8 at United Center in Chicago. According to sources, bout agreements are not yet signed, but the UFC is working on finalizing the 125-pound bout.
Shevchenko (16-3) won the vacant title by defeating former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in December. Fighting out of Kyrgyzstan, Shevchenko is 5-2 in the UFC. Her only two losses came to defending bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, in 2016 and 2017.
ESPN ranks Shevchenko as the No. 3 pound-for-pound female fighter in the world.
Eye (14-6) is on a three-fight winning streak since dropping to the 125-pound weight class from 135 pounds last year. She is coming off an upset decision over Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 231 in December. Originally from Ohio, Eye recently relocated to Las Vegas.
