Jacare Souza isn’t done yet.
Last month on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Souza (26-7, 1 NC) said that he would retire if he didn’t get a middleweight title shot after his April 27 fight. However, considering he ended up losing to Jack Hermansson Saturday night in Sunrise, Florida, a title fight appears further than ever for the Brazilian.
According to Souza’s manager Gilberto Faria, Souza will not retire after the loss after all.
“No way,” Faria wrote via text message.
Faria declined to discuss the fight at length or Souza’s next steps, but he made it clear the 39-year-old isn’t calling it quits after a disappointing performance.
“If UFC doesn’t give me the chance, I’m going to open a jiu-jitsu school for me,” Souza said last month. “I don’t have a problem with retiring.”
