The UFC’s first trip to South Carolina has a main event.
Chan Sung Jung, better known as “The Korean Zombie,” will meet Renato Moicano in the featherweight headliner of UFC Greenville on June 22, the UFC announced Thursday. The card will air on ESPN+ from Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Jung (14-5) is coming off one of the best fights in UFC history, an eventual knockout loss to Yair Rodriguez at UFC Denver last November. In one of the wildest finishes ever in MMA, Rodriguez caught Jung with an upward elbow with one second remaining in the fifth round of the five-round main event fight.
Jung, 32, beat Dennis Bermudez by knockout in his previous fight following a layoff of nearly four years due to injury and Korean military duty. “The Korean Zombie” is known for his exciting style and barnburner bouts.
Moicano (13-2-1) most recently fell by TKO to legend Jose Aldo at UFC Fortaleza in February. The Brazilian up-and-comer had won two straight and was nearing a title shot before that loss. Moicano, 29, is 5-2 in the UFC with the only losses coming to Aldo and Brian Ortega.
Also on the card, Andrea Lee will take on Montana De La Rosa in a women’s flyweight clash and Bryan Barberena meets Randy Brown at welterweight.
