Netherlands beat Italy to book semifinal spot

Netherlands became the third team to book their place in the Women’s World Cup semifinals after beating Italy 2-0 in Valenciennes.

Sarina Wiegman’s team followed England and the U.S. into the last four thanks to second-half headers from Vivianne Miedema and Stefanie van der Gragt.

Miedema broke the deadlock on 70 minutes, heading home her 61st international goal from a free kick.

And Van der Gragt sealed a deserved victory with 10 minutes remaining when she posted a firm header past Laura Giuliani in the Italy goal.
