Russell tossed as Thunder blast winless Warriors

OKLAHOMA CITY — Golden State Warriors guard D’Angelo Russell was ejected from Sunday’s 120-92 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder after arguing a call midway through the third quarter.

The play occurred with 7:12 left in the quarter as Russell drove to the rim and hit a floater over Thunder guard Chris Paul. Russell thought he got fouled and immediately jumped off the floor and right into the face of official James Williams. He was immediately assessed his first technical foul and then after arguing for a few more moments, he was given his second technical and was tossed from the game.

The ejection was a punctuation mark in the midst of one of the organization’s most frustrating performances in recent memory. The Warriors were outworked up and down the floor all day by a Thunder team that jumped out to a 70-37 lead at halftime — the worst deficit of the Steve Kerr era.

Russell has struggled to find his rhythm in his first two games as a Warrior. He finished the game with just six points, going 3-for-10 from the floor.
