MOSCOW — UFC featherweights Zabit Magomedsharipov and Calvin Kattar each successfully made weight Friday as they prepare for their main event bout at UFC Fight Night this weekend.
Magomedsharipov (17-1) and Kattar (20-3) each hit the maximum featherweight limit of 146 pounds. The bout is now official to headline UFC Fight Night on Saturday inside CSKA Arena. The event airs on ESPN+. The main card has a nontraditional start time of 2 p.m. ET.
The matchup was originally supposed to take place last month in October, but it was moved to this weekend’s card after Magomedsharipov came down with a staph infection. The original date would have taken place in Kattar’s backyard of Boston. Following the switch, it will now take place in Magomedsharipov’s native Russia.
Magomedsharipov, 28, has been considered one of the division’s brightest prospects since he signed with the UFC in 2017. He has done nothing to lower those expectations, going 5-0 in the UFC.
Kattar, 31, is 4-1 in the UFC with three finishes.
Heavyweight Greg Hardy (5-1) weighed in at 265 pounds for his co-main event fight against Russian Alexander Volkov (30-7). Volkov weighed 251.
