It will be a matrimonial milestone for mixed martial arts.
Mark De La Rosa will fight Raulian Paiva at UFC Rio Rancho on Feb. 15 in New Mexico, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.
It’ll be a flyweight bout, but it will represent more than that. Montana De La Rosa, Mark’s wife, is scheduled for that card against Mara Romero Borello.
This will mark the first time that a husband and wife compete in the same UFC event.
The De La Rosas were married in 2017, and they live in Fort Worth, Texas. Mark De La Rosa (11-3) is trying to bounce back from two straight losses. The 25-year-old returned to flyweight from bantamweight in his most recent bout, a defeat to Kai Kara-France at UFC Shezhen in August.
Montana De La Rosa (10-5) had a four-fight winning streak snapped by Andrea Lee at UFC Greenville in June. The 24-year-old Montana native has finished all three of her UFC wins by submission. Montana, like her husband, competes at flyweight (125 pounds).
UFC Rio Rancho will be headlined by a light heavyweight contender bout between Corey Anderson and Jan Blachowicz. The card will feature a welterweight bout between popular veteran Diego Sanchez and Brazilian up-and-comer Michel Pereira.
