Source: Twins reward Sano with 3-year extension

Third baseman Miguel Sano is in agreement with the Minnesota Twins on a three-year contract extension, a source familiar with the deal tells ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

It includes a club option for the 2023 season and will buy out two years of free agency.

Sano, 26, slugged 34 home runs and had 79 RBI for the Twins in 2019. Afte getting off to a dredful start, he finished the season with a .247 average.

Following June 28, Sano batted .279 with a .994 OPS. In the stretch run, Sano was one of the best hitters in baseball.
