UFC Brasilia has its headliner and it’s a very relevant fight in the lightweight division.
Kevin Lee will take on Charles Oliveira in the main event of the March 14 card in Brazil, the UFC announced Tuesday following a report from Combate. ESPN has Lee ranked No. 10 in the world among 155-pound fighters.
Lee (18-5) will try to continue his momentum from a first-round head kick knockout of Gregor Gillespie at UFC 244 in November. The Detroit native snapped a two-fight losing streak with that big KO.
Lee, 27, fought for the interim UFC lightweight title in 2017 and returned to that division from welterweight for the Gillespie bout.
Oliveira (28-8, 1 NC) is on a very impressive six-fight winning streak. All of those victories have been by finish in either the first or second round. The Brazil native most recently knocked out Jared Gordon at UFC Sao Paulo in November.
Oliveira, 30, has the most submission wins in UFC history (13), the most submission victories in UFC featherweight history (6) and the second-most finishes in UFC history (15). Oliveira has been with the promotion since 2010.
