The Cleveland Browns have reached agreement with Philadelphia Eagles vice president of football operations Andrew Berry to be their general manager and executive vice president of football operations, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

He replaces John Dorsey as the team’s general manager. The Browns and Dorsey agreed to part ways on Dec. 31. Dorsey became the Browns’ GM in December 2017 as the team was finishing an 0-16 season and oversaw the past two drafts and free agency in 2018 and 2019.

The Browns hired new head coach Kevin Stefanski before filling the GM role. The search for a head coach was led by chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta.

Berry was with the Browns from 2016-18 as the team’s vice president of player personnel before leaving last season to join the Eagles, who hired him as their vice president of football operations.

Berry’s return to Cleveland signifies a prominent place for analytics and the approach the team relied on before turning to Dorsey as GM.

Berry graduated from Harvard with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in computer science. He also played football at Harvard, starting all four years at cornerback, a position at which he was chosen as All-Ivy League three times.
