San Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel, who had a breakout first season in 2019, suffered a broken foot during a throwing session with teammates earlier this week and was set to undergo surgery Thursday, a source told ESPN, confirming an NFL Network report.
A team source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Samuel is expected to be OK for Week 1.
Samuel, the former South Carolina star, emerged as the Niners’ go-to receiver in 2019, collecting 57 catches for 802 yards and 3 TDs.
