Mexico’s Sergio Perez will miss the British Grand Prix after testing positive for COVID-19.
Racing Point driver Perez missed his scheduled Thursday news conference appearance because of the inconclusive test. He remained in isolation until a retest came back positive, sidelining him for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
The status of the race is not in doubt despite the result, with F1 adopting a strict track and trace procedure when the season resumed at the beginning of July.
Over the first three weeks of the season it carried out nearly 15,000 tests and returned just two positive tests — those two individuals were quickly identified and isolated away from the paddock.
