They will replace two other Englishmen Harry Brook and Jordan Thompson for Hurricanes’ season opener
Cox and Lammonby have both been in Sydney playing grade cricket and have been called up at short notice to Hobart Hurricanes’ squad for their season opener against Sydney Sixers in Launceston on Wednesday night.
They will replace two other Englishmen in the Hurricanes’ squad, with Yorkshire’s Harry Brook and Jordan Thompson both unavailable. Brook was always due to miss the start of the season due to his involvement in England Lions’ fixture against Australia A on Thursday, while Thompson was identified as a close contact of a Covid-19 case and has been rendered unavailable despite testing negative himself.
Hurricanes will also miss Scott Boland (Australia A), Ben McDermott (groin), Riley Meredith (hamstring) and Mitchell Owen (side strain) for their season opener but have Matthew Wade available as captain after he suffered a side injury in the latter stages of the T20 World Cup. Tasmania spinner Tom Andrews has signed as a short-term replacement for Boland.
