WBO junior featherweight champion Segolene Lefebvre has pulled out of the second defense of her title in October due to a right hand injury she suffered in sparring.

Lefebvre posted the news on Instagram on Monday, saying she had to have “emergency surgery for a dislocated fracture of the first metacarp,” according to a translation of the post.

She was scheduled to defend her title at L’Hippodrome De Douai on Oct. 29, against Alondra Garcia (21-4-1, 1 KO), whose only defeats had come in world title fights.

The 29-year-old Lefebvre, who is ESPN’s No. 3-ranked fighter in the division, said she hopes to return to the ring by March.

Lefebvre (16-0, 1 KO) won the belt last year by defeating Paulette Valenzuela by unanimous decision. She then defended her belt in May in a unanimous decision win over Melania Sorroche.
