Toss New Zealand chose to bowl vs Bangladesh

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson chose to bowl against Bangladesh in the third match of the tri-series in Christchurch, and brought in Adam Milne in place of Blair Tickner. The dew that came down later in his side’s loss to Pakistan in the previous game played a role in his decision.

Bangladesh made three changes. In came captain Shakib Al Hasan (back in after being delayed due to visa issues), Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shoriful Islam, in place of Sabbir Rahman, Nasum Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman.

Williamson said he would like to see his top order fire a little more in the powerplay, as compared to the game against Pakistan. His opposite number wanted Bangladesh to close out games better, praising Yasir Ali for his quickfire knock against Pakistan, a game which Bangladesh also lost. This means that both sides are looking for their first points in the series.

While the sun was out during the toss with the temperature standing around 20C, the chilly night – temperatures are expected to dip into single digits as the sun sets – might be a challenging factor for Bangladesh.
