Source: Wiseman dealt to Detroit; Bey to Hawks

NBA

The Golden State Warriors are trading center James Wiseman to the Detroit Pistons as part of a multi-team deal that sends Saddiq Bey to the Atlanta Hawks, a source told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday.

The Hawks are sending five second-round picks to the Warriors to acquire Bey, a source told ESPN. Forward Kevin Knox is heading from the Pistons to the Warriors as part of the deal, sources said.

The injury-riddled Wiseman, 21, had fallen out of the rotation with the Warriors this season, averaging 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds. He was sent to the G League for seven games in November after struggling early in the season. Upon his return, he played seven games before injuring his ankle and missed another 15 games.

Wiseman hasn’t played a full basketball season in four years. He played just three games with Memphis in 2019-20, tore his meniscus during his rookie NBA season and then faced numerous setbacks that kept him out all of 2021-22.

Bey is a sharpshooting forward in his third season after being drafted No. 19 overall in the 2020 NBA draft.

Bey, 23, is averaging nearly 15 points per game while shooting 34.5% on 5.6 3s per game. After starting all 82 games last season, Bey has been in and out of Dwane Casey’s starting lineup this season.

The 23-year-old Knox, the ninth overall pick in the 2018 draft by the New York Knicks, is averaging 5.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 41 games this season. He played four seasons in New York before spending the 2021-22 season with the Hawks.
