Toss Ireland chose to bat vs Bangladesh

Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie decided to bat against Bangladesh in the one-off Test in Dhaka with as many as six Test debutants in his XI. He said it looked like a pretty good pitch to bat on whereas Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said he wanted his fast bowlers to take advantage of the slight presence of grass on the Shere Bangla National Stadium pitch.

Bangladesh had six specialist bowlers by picking Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam and Khaled Ahmed in the pace attack, and Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz as the spinners.

This is the first Test between the two sides, and Ireland’s first Test after more than three years.
